FAQ

Questions we
get a lot.

Straight answers, grouped by what people actually ask before switching processors. If your question needs a number we haven't published, we'll point you to a written quote instead of guessing.

Pricing & contracts

Why don't you list your rates on this page?

Card-brand rules and Card Connect's agent agreement prohibit advertising specific processing rates, since interchange — the largest component — changes quarterly and varies by card. Send three statements and we'll come back with a written, customized quote in 48 hours, no verbal promises.

What pricing structures do you offer?

Interchange-plus, flat, and tiered structures — whichever fits your card mix and ticket size best. Interchange-plus is the most transparent: you see the network cost and our margin as two separate, disclosed lines.

How long is the contract, and what if I need to cancel?

Card Connect requires a standard merchant agreement, and month-to-month is available for lower-volume accounts. Term length and early-termination terms depend on your setup — that's exactly the kind of detail we put in writing rather than promise generically. Ask us for the quote and it'll be in there.

Are there fees you charge that come as a surprise later?

That's the point of the 48-hour written breakdown: interchange, assessments, and processor margin listed as separate lines before you sign anything. Interchange and assessments are set by Visa and Mastercard, not by us — our margin is the only number we control, and it's disclosed up front.

Onboarding & support

How do I actually get started?

Send three recent statements — PDF or scan, redactions are fine. We review them and come back in 48 hours with a written breakdown of what moves and what doesn't, no commitment required to see it.

Do you support businesses outside your local area?

Onboarding is remote-first and available nationwide across the US — terminal provisioning, underwriting, and integrations all happen without an in-person visit on our end.

What happens if my terminal stops working or I get a chargeback?

Support is available 24/7 for chargebacks and terminal issues — that's not limited to business hours.

Will I have a single point of contact, or a call center?

We handle onboarding and account management directly, from the signed agreement through the first week of transactions — the follow-ups that catch the issues that make people switch processors happen on our side, not a generic queue.

Security & hardware

Is my customers' card data actually secure?

Processing runs on Card Connect, certified PCI DSS Level 1 — the highest merchant data-security certification administered by the PCI Security Standards Council. Tokenization keeps raw card data out of your systems.

Does accepting cards make my own PCI compliance easier or harder?

Using Card Connect's tokenizer typically reduces your PCI scope significantly, since card data never touches your own systems. You're still responsible for your own compliance attestation, but we help with the paperwork as part of onboarding.

What hardware do you support?

Clover and PAX terminals, provisioned before they ship so they work out of the box. Which model fits depends on your setup — counter, mobile, or multi-lane — and that's part of the same 48-hour quote.

Do you support online checkout, or just in-person terminals?

Both. Card Connect's gateway handles tokenized card data, subscriptions, and a hosted checkout page for online sales, alongside Clover/PAX hardware for in-person — connected to your CRM, accounting, or storefront without a middleware tax.
